Push Button Toilets and Their Many Advantages

Toilets have made considerable progression since their introduction. At once, it was interesting to see that a toilet even flushed. However, today the market offers you so many choices when it’s about how you wish to flush your latrine. The push button toilets are fairly new but have rapidly turned out to be the standard in some nations. A majority of new toilets that hit the marketplace have the push button flush system and there’re even ways to change a latrine with a conventional lever to a push button flush.

So, let’s have a look at some of the most prominent advantages of push button toilets:

Simpler to fix:

In most of the cases, the push button machinery is simpler to fix. If you have installed your toilet perfectly from the very first time, you can anticipate it to be free-of-maintenance for the most part with a push button flush feature.

Saves water:

With a lever flushing toilet you don’t have the flexibility to utilize more or less water. However, a latrine with a push button flush feature generally provides 2 different levels of water, which will eventually save you water.

More cleanliness:

It’s much simpler to splash some sterilizer on a push button than to cover every inch of a lever. This is why a push button toilet can be kept sanitized, making it healthier for your whole family.

More advanced:

Sooner or later, a toilet equipped with a lever flush will join the group of expired bathroom supplies.  However, a toilet with push button flush will remain in fashion for long due to its look and functionality.

Tips to Replace your Old Toilet Seat with a Functional & New One

For replacing a toilet seat, you must consider different factors that will help in getting a right and functional one. Whether you choose round, oval, plastic or wooden, your new commode seat should complement the bathroom décor.

In this post, we are going to discuss about some tips for successfully replacing the toilet or commode seat with a right one.

Consider the Shape of your Toilet:

Toilet or commode seats are generally available in two different shapes like round or elongated, each of which correspond to two different toilet bowl shapes. Elongated or oval shaped toilet or commode seats are more popular among home owners in UK. So before beginning you’re shopping for toilet or commode seat, it is important to find out whether you have round or elongated toilet bowl to buy accordingly.

Look Out for a Mount Type:

You can decide whether to opt for a conventional bolt-and-nut mount or an integral bolt and nut.  Conventional bolt-and-nut mounts are easier to use (drilling in or out) and considered perfect for most toilet seats. Whereas integral bolt-and-nut mounts can look better in the beginning but proves to be frustrating when it is required to be removed.

Select the Right Material:

Decide whether you want plastic, wood or cushioned seat for your toilet. In UK, most homeowners look out for toilet or commode seats made of high impact plastic or plastic coating over composite wood. When you want longevity, functional and appealing then it will be always better to opt for plastic toilet or commode seats. Plastic commode seats are cheaper than their wooden counterparts as well as have some additional features like automatic slow-closing lid and are less prone to scratches or crack.

Do not forget to take the Right Measurement:

While buying toilet or commode seat it is important to take the right measurement:

  • Bolt-to-Bolt: Measure the distance between centres of the bolt holes- those are found at back of the bowl (where the seat is attached with toilet bowl).
  • Front-to-Back: You need to measure the inches between bolt holes to the front of toilet bowl.
  • Width: Measure across the toilet bowl at its widest point.
You must understand that all commode seats are not moulded in the same way, for which taking measurements will prove to be effective before buying a right one.

How to Remove a Dual Flush Toilet Cistern Lid?

Have you ever tried to remove the dual flush toilet cistern lid removal? Do you experience difficulty in removing the cistern lid of the toilet? It is found that older ceramic cisterns are closely coupled to the pan or placed just above it, which easily lifts off. In some cases, plastic cisterns have some screws around the edge of the lid that holds on, which requires effort in lid removal.

In case of Dual flush toilet cisterns like Armitage Shanks, the lid is held in right place by the push button mechanism, which is mounted through a hole in lid. In this post, you will find great tips to remove a cistern lid removal for dual flush toilet.

Process of Cistern Lid Removal:

To remove the lid of Armitage Shanks dual flush toilet cistern, first two buttons have to be removed by pulling them out from their socket. Both flush buttons have a fingernail notch on the side. You need to push one button down all the way (the toilet will flush), then dig your nail into notch of the other button to pull it out. You will find the button will click out of position and can be easily removed from the socket. These flush buttons have a long and thin spindle of plastic attached which reaches down to operate the real buttons inside the cistern. So, be careful in handling these buttons and do not break them.

After removing the flush buttons, you can find a plastic screw in the socket, which holds the lid. Using a wide bladed screwdriver, you can loosen up the screw and take it out. The button of the socket mounted through cistern lid has no thread in screw hole. After the screw is removed then the cistern lid will easily lift off and button socket can be removed from the lid by pushing it out from underneath.

After Removal Process of Cistern Lids:

The button socket has holes in it, which allows water to drain into the cistern when buttons are washed during toilet cleaning. Before assembling the lid, all parts can be washed and cleaned.

Cistern with the Lid-off can be flushed:

Dual flush cistern can be flushed with lid removed. By poking through the holes (in the height adjustable Sliding Plate) you can push flushing buttons down. You can also use a button with spindle attached or a screwdriver to push down the flush buttons. In many cases where space permits, then the flush buttons can be pressed directly with finger or thumb.
